THE NAKURU CHAMBER ORCHESTRA INVITES YOU TO ITS PIANO RECITAL ON THE 28 JANUARY AT THE ACK CATHEDRAL HALL, NAKURU AT 2:00PM
The Nakuru Philharmonic, (NAKESTRA) has been in existence for an year now. It started as an idea but has grown diversely in such a short span of time. It started with two members who are its founders, Alex Waweru and Nathaniel Gachukia(NPC). Later on pianist Tony Mwithaga, Nakuru's "reading maestro" joined in support of the idea... it has grown to a group of about 15 members of which some are from leading Orchestras in Kenya such as The Conservatoire Orchestra, The Nairobi Orchestra.
We have a brilliant Violinist Cugu,who heads the string section, Flautist, maestro Oboist,Jeppy who heads the winds... A flamboyant Cornetist in charge of brass... However we have limited instruments...
We are on a mission to acquire instruments slowly... Starting with a digital piano and two cellos... In regard to this, we are holding a concert on 28th January to raise money for the instruments...
The concert charges are 250 per head "that is 4 years or older" Please supprt our cause...
The main reason for our establishment is to see that;
1. Music has a better reception amongst all people including 'parents'
2. To promote art Music
3. To help young people who are jobless to find something worthwhile..
4. To invest in talent
5. Classical music unlike the rest commands a lot of discipline
6. Develop music understanding that leads to the improvement musical creativity.
7. Creating a form of employment to teachers and learners both in the
classroom and on stage at the concert hall.
8. To bring people of different cultural backgrounds together in
Harmony
9. Bridge the gap between the rich and poor in musical terms...
10. As Kenya is headed for 2030, This is a way forward
11. Share the worlds greatest music to all, The most intimate and passionate
music of all time.
